You may know Brian Miller as the husband of the legendary comedian and actress, Carol Burnett, but he is much more than that. He is an accomplished musician and music contractor who has played the drums for the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, one of the most prestigious orchestras in the world. He is also a music and venue organizer for the Hollywood Bowl, where he has been involved in many spectacular shows and events. He has also produced some of his wife’s works, such as The Carol Burnett 50th Anniversary Special (2017), which celebrated her remarkable career and legacy.
But there is more to Brian Miller than meets the eye. Here are some facts about his life that you may not have known.
The Early Life and Background of Carol Burnett’s Husband
Brian Miller was born in the US sometime in 1956. He lives a very quiet life and has managed to keep the details about the identity of his parents and where he was born undisclosed.
Regardless of this, he is married to Carol Burnett, a celebrity who has been in front of the cameras for over five decades. Unlike Brain, Carol was born on April 26, 1933, in Texas.
Brian Miller is a Talented Musician and Entertainer
For many years now, Brian Miller has been involved in various aspects of the entertainment industry. According to the reports, he started out as the personnel manager of the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra before later taking over the role of the principal drummer.
Apparently, his organizational skills are something to admire, as he has also taken on the role of music contractor, responsible for venues like the Hollywood Bowl and the Hollywood Pantages Theatre. Also, he has shown his versatility in organizing events by bringing together teams of musicians, conductors, and producers for events. Miller is credited with organizing the Hamilton and Waitress tours and concerts with the Los Angeles Philharmonic across the nation.
More on his craft as an entertainer: in 2017, he worked as the music contractor for The Carol Burnett 50th Anniversary Special to mark a milestone in her career. Obviously, this was not the only time he gave a personal touch to projects that involved his wife’s life and career. In 2023, Miller worked as the executive producer of Burnett’s 90th anniversary, Carol Burnett: 90 Years of Laughter + Love. The two-hour documentary was aired on Burnett’s birthday, April 26 of the same year.
His Marriage with the Comedian as Lasted for Over Two Decades
Miller and Burnett have been married since November 2001, but that is not all about their love story. A look at their relationship timeline shows that they first met in Long Beach when Burnett was there for a show, and this was back in the 90s. As it is, they soon found a lot of interesting things about each other and eventually became romantic partners. After dating for some years, they finally got married in 2001.
More on their relationship, the pair have always made the media go into a frenzy and understandably it is due to the age difference between them. Carol is 91 years old while Miller is 68 making him more than 20 years her junior.
Like many such relationships with a wide age gap, the paparazzi are always curious to know more about it. In their case, Carol has made it clear that they have a terrific relationship as he loves all her buddies. Moreso, she revealed that as they get older, the gap between their ages continues to narrow. With this understanding, the celebrity couple has managed to stay away from scandals in over two decades that they have been together.
He is Her Third Husband
Despite the loved-up pictures of the pair we see on the internet, this is not the only known relationship they have been in. In Miller’s case, he manages to keep details about his private life quiet, but we cannot say the same for his wife.
In her case, the comedian has been in other publicized relationships that led to two marriages. Burnett’s first walk down the aisle was with the actor Don Saroyan. They tied the knot in 1955 and were together until 1962, when they parted ways.
Following the collapse of that marriage, the energetic comedian gave another shot to marriage when she got married to her second husband, television producer Joe Hamilton, in 1963. Unlike her previous marriage, this one lasted until 1984 before they parted ways. Notably, they welcomed three daughters within the 21 years that they were married. Her daughters with Hamilton are Carrie, Jody, and Erin, who have since made their own career paths in the entertainment industry. While Carrie was known as a writer, Jody chose acting, while Erin is a musician.

Is Brian Miller a Father?
From what we observed, Miller is not a father, as he has not indicated this. Regardless, he has been a father figure to his stepchildren. In fact, he has been quite supportive. Carrie, his oldest stepchild, passed away from cancer in 2002. He encouraged Carol through the grieving process.
Prior, Carrie, who also worked in entertainment, collaborated with Carol to write the play, Hollywood Arms (2002), and after she died, Miller encouraged Carol to go on with the play’s preview in Chicago.
Also, he showed support to Carol during her daughter Erin’s struggle with substance abuse. In September 2020, Miller and Burnett petitioned and were granted the legal guardianship of Erin’s then 14-year-old son, Dylan Hamilton-West. Looking at the circumstances, the court granted it to them based on Erin’s inability to properly look after him.
Notably, he is not directly related to Dylan by blood, but as Carol’s husband and someone who knew the boy throughout his life, he took the task quite seriously until 2022, when a permanent guardian was found for Dylan.
