Imani Cheadle is the youngest daughter of American actor and producer Don Cheadle and actress Bridgid Coulter. Following in her parents’ footpaths, she is building a career in the film industry. Her first on-screen action is in the 2013 TV mini-series, Vanity Fair: Decades, but since then, she is yet to appear on the silver screen.

Imani is one of two daughters born to award-winning actor and producer, Don Cheadle and actress Bridgid Coulter in 1997, however, she is yet to reveal the day and month of birth. She has an older sister, Ayana Tai Cheadle, born 2 years earlier in 1995.
Her family’s background and ancestry are complex as it has been traced to a number of countries in Africa including Cameroon, Nigeria, and Benin. Moreover, based on 2 DNA tests, the first one revealed her father is of Cameroonian descent. The second test indicates links one-third of her father’s African bloodline from Senegal to Liberia and one-quarter from Congo-Angola, while the rest comes from western Nigeria (Yoruba) and Benin.
Interestingly, when she was 11, a PBS series on African American Lives 2 profiled her family’s history, revealing how her great, great, great grandfather was part of the U.S. Colored Troops of West Florida in 1865. Also, her father’s family was part of the Chickasaw Nation, which was sovereign in the U.S. during the American slave trade era. When slavery was abolished, the nation didn’t recognize it until 1866.
Years after the recognition, her ancestors were neither United States nor Chickasaw citizens. That changed in the 1890s when lands held communally were redistributed by the Dawes Commission.

It seems Imani has her plate filled. Based on reports, she was passionate about acting and modeling when she was tender, and now she is broadening to other aspects of film production like scripting. Well, that influence could have come only from her parents who are both big names in the movie scene. While attending high school, she joined a drama club, where she featured in most of the play performances in school.
At the age of 16, she made her first appearance on TV in a mini-documentary series Vanity Fair: Decades (2013). Even though it remained her only professional appearance on the silver screen, her attention seemed to be focused on film production.
According to details from her LinkedIn page, she did a full-time job as an executive assistant and a part-time script reader at The Radicle Acts Productions, a production company established by her father in 2019. Prior, she worked at Radical Media LLC as a production assistant from January to December 2020.
