The R&B artist Irish Grinstead rose to prominence in the late 1990s as a founding member of the popular girl group “702”. Their soulful harmonies in the songs ‘Where My Girl’s At” and “Get It Together” solidified their place in the music industry. However, her penchant for privacy garnered curiosity and speculation throughout her career.

Irish Grinstead Did Not Have a Husband
Irish led a successful career in the music industry, however, she managed to keep her personal life away from the public’s eye. From our findings, the “Where My Girl’s At” singer did not have a husband and no evidence suggests that she ever tied the knot throughout her lifetime.
While Irish was very discreet about her lovelife, her dedication to her music was evident. She allowed her music to take center stage and spent the best part of her life pouring her heart and soul into her craft.
She Has Been Linked to Two Celebrities
Even though Irish shielded her personal life from the prying eyes of the public and fans alike, we gathered from a number of sources that she was linked to two prominent figures in the industry.
One of the notable romantic links associated with Irish was Ray J. a fellow musician, actor, and television personality. The pair were rumored to have dated around the late 90s and this was fueled by their shared involvement in the music industry. However, neither Irish Grinsted nor Ray ever confirmed these rumors.

As hinted, Irish was completely given to her music and spent many years building a successful career in the industry. Her passion for music dates back to her teenage years. Growing up in Las Vegas as the youngest of her 3 children, music was a shared passion for the girls.
It was also around this time that she began the “702” girls group alongside her sisters in the 1990s. The trio released their debut album “No Doubt” in 1996 and other albums such as “702” and “Star” followed. The group which was named after the area code of their hometown in Las Vegas soon became popular in the region and across the United States.
They were known for their hit songs like “Where My Girls At”, “Good Burger”, “Little Stuart” and “Get It Together. They were also nominated for awards such as the American Music Award, a BET Award, and multiple Soul Train Lady of Soul Awards for best R&B/soul album of the year by a group, band, or duo.
Aside from their released albums, the “702” group toured a number of countries and often performed at events.
In addition to singing, Irish also earned a few acting roles in productions like “Tiffany the Doll(2022)”, “The Brewster Project (2004)”, and “BET Presents: The Encore (2021)”.
She took a Medical Leave of Absence in 2022
For the first time since the start of the “702” girls group, Irish decided to take a medical leave from her career in the last month of 2022 which was prompted by underlying health issues. The group wrote;
We regret to inform you that at this time Irish Grinstead will be taking a medical leave of absence due to serious medical issues. It is our hope that she will have a healthy and speedy recovery in the months to come. We ask that at this very difficult time that you please respect our privacy and continue to pray for us as Meelah and Misha continue to navigate and represent 702 for upcoming performances in 2023.
Unfortunately, Irish never came back from the break as she passed away in 2023. The cause of her death remains undisclosed even though it is reported in some quarters that she may have also battled kidney failure like her twin sister, Orish. Needless to say, Irish was born a twin on June 3, 1980, and shared a very close bond with her sister who preceded her in death.
From what we garnered, Orish died at the age of 27 on April 20, 2008, after battling kidney failure. Her death left the whole family devastated particularly Irish. She revealed that it was hard to move on. However after speaking about the death on the first Episode of “BET Presents: The Encore”, she revealed that it was relieving to be able to finally speak about it and let it out from her heart. Irish added that her twin sister’s death changed the dynamics of the entire family.
