According to accounts, Jade Catrinos was born on April 10, 1980. She lived in Treasure Island, Florida, until she was four, and from there, Jade and her family moved to Malibu where she was raised. Jade has said that she always sang as a little kid, and when she was about 11 years old she started writing songs and playing in a band with her dad.

In 2005, Jade Castrinos became a member of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. She had a significant role in the band’s early development and helped to structure it before Alex Ebert launched it publicly in 2007. Alex first noticed Castrinos sitting on an outdoor bench and immediately perceived her incredible talents. They began collaborating on music and joined The Masses, an art and music collective that was largely funded by Heath Ledger, an actor. Jade mostly concentrated on the keyboard, guitar, percussion, and vocals while performing with the group. Also according to reports, the band began to take shape with the addition of Jade Castrinos.

After Jade joined Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, the band debuted “Desert Song” on April 12, 2009, as the first of a 12-part feature-length musical series titled SALVO! On November 24, 2009, part two, titled “Kisses Over Babylon,” was made available online via Spinner.com. The band posted “40 Day Dream” Part 3 to YouTube on May 19, 2011.
The group took part in the Railroad Revival Tour in April 2011 alongside Mumford & Sons and Old Crow Medicine Show. The tour made stops in six cities, performing in nontraditional settings like an Austin high school where Mumford & Sons taught the marching band how to play their hit song “The Cave.”
2013 saw the release of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros‘ third studio album, which bears their own name. Then they embarked on tours that included headline performances, as well as significant festivals, in North America, the UK, Europe, and Australia. The band also developed a reputation for inviting strangers onstage, including a wheelchair-bound disabled guy and a former patient they had previously met at a hospital concert.

The American singer remained with Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros for about a decade before deciding to exit the group. Although Jade initially claimed that she was kicked out by the group, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros later alleged that she was not booted out. The group said they only asked her to take off one tour but decided on her own to leave. After parting ways with the band, she started putting more emphasis on her solo career.
