Here Are 7 Facts About James Daniel Sundquist
1. About James Daniel Sundquist’s Birth
Jimi Hendrix met with James Daniel Sundquist’s mother a Swedish woman named Eva Sundquist in the year 1968. Their meeting was prompted by the tour Jimi had with his band in Stockholm, Sweden where Eva resided.
They met while riding a local tram and this was the beginning of their friendship. Jimi and Eva started communicating frequently even after the end of his tour and his departure.
Jimi returned to Stockholm in January of 1969 to perform in a concert and he pre-informed Eva about this. Upon his arrival, Eva welcomed him with flowers sent to him and also visited him at his hotel. They got intimate for two days (9th and 10th of January) during Jimi’s stay in Stockholm and this intimacy purportedly resulted in a pregnancy and eventual birth of James Daniel on the 5th of October 1969.
Eva informed Jimi about the pregnancy and birth of his son and Jimi affirmed that upon his return to Stockholm in 1970, he would meet his son.
2. James Daniel Sundquist Never Met His Dad
Although he promised to return to Sweden in order to meet his son, Jimi never got to. He did return to Stockholm the next year as promised and met with Eva, even though he did not meet James Daniel. Jimi met with Eva at backstage of his concert and assumed another baby to be his.
Following this, he never really got to meet his son with Eva as he passed on a month after the meeting with his mom. However, Jimi Hendrix’s father James Allen Hendrix who is popular as “Al” met with James Daniel a couple of times after the demise of his son.
3. He Filed A Case Against His Grandfather
After the demise of Jimi in 1970, Al took possession of his son’s wealth and left other family members out of it. Having the knowledge that his son had a child, though out of wedlock, did not matter to Al. As a result, James Daniel later sued his grandfather for leaving him out of his father’s inheritance.
Daniel Sundquist filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court claiming to be the rightful heir to his father’s wealth and not his grandfather. This battle tallied for long because although James Daniel was accepted by the court as Jimi’s son, no paternity tests were done to ascertain this.
4. His Father Had Many Women Around But Never Got Married
Jimi Hendrix was a man with a lot of women. You could call these women groupies, but it is reported that Jimi had some sort of relationship with a couple of them at one point or another.
On beginning his relationship tales, Jimi had a girlfriend named Betty Jean in high school. He met and had a relationship with her to the extent of him hand painting her name on his guitar back then.
Afterward, he dated Lithofayne Pridgon briefly although she has been attributed as the muse behind his hit song ‘’Foxy Lady’. In 1966, Jimi Hendrix tried out a relationship with Kathy Etchingham who is known to be the muse of a lot of his hit songs. After this relationship with Kathy ended, he met his last girlfriend, Monika Dannemann.
Jimi met Monika at a bar in Dusseldorf. He was also engaged to Danish model and actress Kirsten Nefer at the time of his death. He spent his last weeks with her before she returned to a film set and that was when he got to Monika who claimed they were going to get married had he not died because they were very much in love.
All these women are those he had a somewhat defined relationship with. They do not include his flings, friends with benefits, and one-night-stands as Eva Sundquist and Diane Carpenter with whom Jimi had relationships. 5. The Details Of James Daniel Sundquist’s Father Death Was Disputed
James Daniel’s father was with his last girlfriend, German champion skater, Monika Danneman on the day of his demise. According to Monika, she had prepared him a meal which they shared together before she drove him to a friend’s house. On returning in the early hours of the next day, they spent hours talking before retiring for bed.
Monika reportedly left Jimi lying on the bed on the morning of September 18, 1970. She stated that when she checked on him, he was alive but unresponsive. She then called the ambulance who came to get him and rushed him to the nearby St. Mary Abbot’s Hospital in London. It was at the hospital that Jimi was pronounced dead at 12:45 pm.
According to Monika, Jimi probably took as many as 9 tablets of sleeping pills, Vesparax which she gave him because he was unable to sleep for days. However, the police and Jimi’s ex-girlfriend, Kathy who spent 3 years investigating and properly researching the case insisted there were a lot of discrepancies in the reports of Monika. The autopsy report claimed that the singer died from “inhalation of vomit [due to] barbiturate intoxication”.
6. He Reportedly Has A Sister
Although Jimi Hendrix was never a married man, he had not just James Daniel as his offspring. There was a woman named Tamika who claimed to have been the daughter of the musician way before James Daniel came into the picture.
Tamika Hendrix claimed to be Jimi Hendrix’s daughter with Diane Carpenter. Diane was living with Jimi in California in 1966 and she got pregnant to the then 23-year-old Jimi at the age of 16.
Unable to get hold of Jimi to tell him about their baby, she returned to Minneapolis from New York where she birthed Tamika ‘James Jimi’. She tried again 6 months after the birth of her daughter but wasn’t successful.
By May/June of 1970, Jimi and Diane’s lawyers were making arrangements for a paternity test to be done on the young girl. Unfortunately, Jimi’s busy schedule prevented this from happening and so until his death, his blood was not taken to perform the test. This situation prevented Tamika from rightfully claiming heirship of her father’s wealth.
However, she, amongst some other discovered children of the late musician has been somewhat recognized as one of Jimi’s illegitimate children.
