Kahekili Kali is a 13-year-old celebrity child and the son of Canadian actress Evangeline Lilly and her long-term partner Norman Kali. He was born into fame the same year his mother played Bailey Tallet in Real Steel.
Kali’s mother is well-established in Hollywood and as an author. She has played several roles in Lost (2004–2010), Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023), Legend of Destruction (2021), Ant-Man (2015), The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (2014), and Little Evil (2017). She received a nomination for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Drama Series.
In a similar vein, Kahekili’s father is an actor, production assistant, and director. He is known for his contributions to films and series such as Lost (2005-2009), North Shore (2004–2005), The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (2013), and Undercovers (2010).
He was born after a 30-hour Labor as Lilly’s First Child
Kahekili Kali was born on May 23, 2011, as the first of Evangeline Lilly and Norman Kali’s two children. He was born amidst a thunderstorm after a 30-hour labor in Hawaii, an island state in the United States. Also, he was born at home after an 8-hour-long push from his mother.
The young Kali was born a year after his parents met and the same year that his mother played Bailey Tallet in Real Steel. It was also the same year that his father played the minor role of a Local Rescue Worker in the TV series Off the Map.
Before his birth, his mother Lilly was married to Murray Hone from 2003 until their divorce in 2004. She also dated actor and Lost co-star Dominic Monaghan from 2004 to 2007.
His parents met on the set of Lost. In the series that aired from 2004 to 2010, his father served as
second assistant director (uncredited) while his mother played Kate Austen – a role that won her a big name in Hollywood and a nomination at the Golden Globe Award.
The celebrity child has a younger brother who was born in 2015.
For most of his childhood, Kahekili has been kept out of the spotlight. Regardless, his name is brought up by his mother now and then.
At a young age, he is exposed to the movie industry, especially through the works of his parents. He is also exposed to humanitarian works. His mother was raised Baptist and Mennonite and is devout and evangelical. She has also been involved in humanitarian work in Rwanda for over a decade while also running an NGO in the Central African country.
His Mother was 30 When She Had Him
Kali was born when his mother was 30 years old and she had his brother when she was 35. Long before his birth, his mother Evangeline was born on August 3, 1979, as a middle child. She has an older sister and a younger sister.
His famous mother was born in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, and was raised in British Columbia.
Before fame, she worked as a waitress, changed oil and grease on big rig trucks, and was also a flight attendant.
On a similar path, Kali’s father Norman Kali was born in Hawaii in 1978. He dropped out of high school and did small jobs before moving to Hollywood where he later became notable in the movie industry.

Kahekili Kali was Not into One of His Mother’s Biggest Roles until in Later Life
The young celebrity child was at first not impressed with his mother’s famous role as Hope van Dyne/Wasp in Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). According to her, he asked if there was no other character she could play other than Wasp.
However, he later comes to terms with the role and sees her as a hero. Kahekili also thought that her role was cool.
To further buttress his love for his mother’s role, Kahekili plays wasp dress-up – a thing that makes his mother proud.
If He Stays True to His Family’s Legacy, Kahekili May Work in Hollywood
Being raised by parents who are successful in Hollywood, it will not be out of place for Kahekili to later take a career in Hollywood.
Regardless, there are possibilities that he may decide to take a career away from acting or the movie industry.
Statistics have shown that many tend to follow the career path of their parents. Male children are likely to follow their father’s paths while female children are likely to their mother’s.
In the meantime, he enjoys being on set with his parents. His mother narrates that:
[Kahekili] was in awe of all the buttons and switches and gadgets. He asked if he could touch them, and I told him to go nuts. He sat at a particularly elaborate switchboard and started playing and then turned around to my partner and said, ‘Look at me, Dad! I’m the Wasp!’ That was a moment.
Some famous people whose children have followed their career paths include Sunny Sandler, daughter of Adam Sandler; Jaden Smith, Will Smith’s son; and Hania Riley Sinclair, Vin Diesel’s daughter.
