Kosheno Moore is a successful inclusion strategist and a media and communication professional. She is also one of the four half-siblings of Criminal Minds actor Shemar Moore.
Raised in a multi-racial family, Kosheno and her siblings had several challenges while growing up. Despite that, they have all grown to be successful in their own right. Of all her siblings, Shemar Moore is the famous one.
Kosheno Moore was Raised in Japan
Kosheno Moore Takahashi was born to a Japanese mother Nobuko Takahashi and an Africa-American father, Sherrod Moore on April 25, 1982, in Japan. Her father was originally from a poverty-stricken area in East Oakland, California.
Her family later moved to Hawaii for most parts of her formative years. This was for Kosheno and her siblings to blend in. From there, they moved to Virginia.
Her father married her mother when he was in his late 40s. He was nine years older than Nobuko. He was previously married to Shemar Moore’s mother Marilyn Wilson- Moore. While Kosheno credits her father for protecting them from all sorts of racism, her half-brother has shared a contrary opinion.
Shemar Moore revealed during an interview with Larry King that his father was not a good husband to his mother and he ended up spending four years in San Quentin. The actor added he was still and baby when his father served prison time.
Although he had an estranged relationship with his father, he helped his father by getting him a place to stay but they were not really close.
Kosheno also did not really have a perfect relationship with her father. While growing up, she blamed her father for shielding her and her siblings from their black heritage and culture. She was reportedly very angry with her father until her perspective towards that changed when she clocked 27 and moved to the Bay Area to pursue her career in tech.
Her father later died following a prolonged illness in December 2019.
I now know that my father gave me the ultimate gift of love, even at the expense of our relationship. He gave us perspective he couldn’t have so that we can help write the future Black narrative free of trauma and suffering. #BlackLivesMatter #mixedrace https://t.co/rvXbAm5Khy
