Louis Farrakhan has 9 children including Louise Farrakhan Jr. Betsy-Jean Farrakhan, Maria Farrakhan, and Joshua Nasir Farrakhan. The Nation of Islam leader had all of them with his wife, Betsy Ross who is popularly known as Khadijah Farrakhan. They welcomed their children during their marriage of more than 5 decades.
While none of the preacher’s children has matched his fame and popularity, Farrakhan’s children are active members of the NOI which promotes black excellence as well as the teaching of Islam. Aside from this, the minister suffered the tragedy of losing his oldest son, Louise Farrakhan Jr. in 2018.
Meet Louis Farrakhan’s Children
1. Betsy Jean Farrakhan
She is the oldest child of the NOI Islam leader together with his wife Khadijah. Her parents got married in September 1953. Shortly after, her mother got pregnant and this made her father drop out of college to support the family.
From an early age, Betsy-Jean had a passion for farming. Unsurprisingly, she became a first-generation farmer in her family to put into use the lands that her father was dashed each time he traveled to different parts of the world.
She expanded a farm in Buffalo, Michigan, earning her recognition in 2016. Also, Betsy was honored by the Nation of Islam Ministry of Agriculture for advancing Muhammad’s farm.
Apart from this, she has been married to the engineer, bro. Maurice Muhammad.
2. Louis Farrakhan Jr.
He is the oldest son among Farrakhan’s four sons. Louis Jr. mostly stayed away from any active involvement in the day-to-day running of the NOI as he did not hold any active post.
However, he made the news in 2000 after the police were contacted about him beating of his wife Lesil Farrakhan. At the time, Lesil who was 42 was pregnant and based on the police report, the call was made by their 13-year-old daughter. When the Crete police arrived at the house, Louis Jr. was not found at home and he later called them to report the incident.
As it is, the matter died quietly since Lesil did not press charges. Sadly, the next time Louis made the news was in 2018 after his demise. According to the statement made on the organization’s site, Louis died peacefully in his sleep at the family’s home in Arizona. He is said to have suffered from a heart condition.
3. Mustapha Farrakhan
He is mostly seen by the side of his father. Based on his Instagram profile, Mustapha Farrakhan is the Student Supreme Captain. Therefore, we may not be wrong to assume that he is closest in command to Farrakhan Sr. as he often appears as a guard and assistant.
He is the father of American professional basketball player, Mustapha Farrakhan Jr. Aside from the player, Mustapha Sr. is also the father of four daughters.
4. Joshua Nasir Farrakhan
He was born sometime in 1959. He brought attention to himself in 2001 after he was shot in the leg while visiting a home in South Side, Chicago. At the time, no motive was given for the attack and thankfully, his injuries were not life-threatening.
Two years later, he made the headlines again after he was arrested in a hit-and-run accident. According to the reports, he had hit a couple, Charles and Gladys Peterson on Indiana Toll Road. Though the victims survived, Nasir did not stop till the LaPorte County Police stopped and arrested him.
He was later charged with two counts of drunken driving and fleeing. He pleaded guilty to criminal recklessness but refused to pay $800,000 in damages. According to him, Gladys’ neck and back pain was a pre-existing condition. He was then ordered to pay $4448,838 in damages to Charles.
Since then, he has managed to stay away from the media. A look at his social media updates shows that he spends time with his wife, Anne Farrakhan, and their children.
5. Abnar Farrakhan
He is one of four sons born to the minister. Abnar is passionate about music and to be specific rap. A look through his Instagram account shows that he is a strong promoter of black culture. Needless to say, promoting black excellence is something the NOI is known for, hence, taking it to new heights does not come as a surprise.
Aside from being passionate about black musicians, he is also skilled in making special effects for music videos.
6. Donna Farrakhan
She was born sometime in January 1956 and has long followed in her father’s footsteps of promoting the nation of Islam. Donna is the second female minister in the nation of Islam.
He was focusing on her love life. Donna has been married to Leonard Muhammad since 1983. Donna’s husband was born Leonard Searcy in 1945 and later changed his name like many NOI converts. Also, he was associated with the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson‘s business ventures. In recent years, he has worked in the NOI in the aspect of economic development.
More on Donna and Leonard’s marriage, the two have had their share of controversies. In 1999, they were sued for an unpaid mortgage by South Shore Bank over a Chicago property. Aside from this, her husband is known for several failed ventures.
7. Maria Farrakhan Muhammad
Like many members of her family, Maria is also involved in promoting the nation of Islam.
She was influential in the creation, development, and execution of the Mother Khadijah Farrakhan Children’s Village, an organization that helps to provide programs for youths and their families in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics.
More on her work, Maria is a neuroscientist. According to a June 2020 Instagram update, she revealed that she qualified for a doctoral degree in the same field.
8. Fatimah Farrakhan
She is a registered nurse and an active member of the Nation of Islam. Not much is known about her career except for NOI activities.
Focusing on her relationship with her famous father, Fatimah revealed that he is unselfish and constantly praying.

9. Khallada Farrakhan
She is one of the youngest among Louis Farrakhan’s children. Her Facebook bio describes her as a young strong black Muslim queen in the NOI. As it is, she is active in the activities of the group.
