Before their divorce announcement in January 2023, Millie Corretjer and Oscar de la Hoya were married for 15 years. They split way back in 2016 but remained married for 7 years before beginning the process of finalizing their divorce.

Oscar de la Hoya’s ex-wife, Millie was born Milagros Ninette Corretjer Maldonado. She was born on April 18, 1974, in San Juan, Puerto Rico but is originally from Aibonito, Puerto Rico. She has roots traced back to Pineda de Mar, Province of Barcelona, Spain.
Millie’s parents are known as Jesus Francisco Corretjer and Milagros Maldonado.
Her grandfather, Juan Antonio Corretjer was a one-time Nationalist Party member. He was the Secretary General of the pro-independence Puerto Rican Nationalist Party and played many active roles in Puerto Rican politics.
Additionally, Juan Antonio was an influential poet and this may have been where Millie picked up her talent in the Arts.
She started a Musical Career in the 90s
In 1989, at the tender age of 15, Millie already started showing signs that she was made for greatness. She, at that age, hosted ‘Lo Ola Nueva’ translated to The New Wave, a famous TV show in Puerto Rico.
By the time she turned 18, Millie signed a contract with EMI Latin under which she has released most of her songs.
In 1995, the girl who had started grooming a passion and talent in music released her first album titled ‘Sola’. Her music has hints of salsa and merengue music and she blends them really well with matching emotions.
From then onwards, she began to drop songs that became hits and blew up her popularity and fame. She sampled songs of American Tejano singer, Selena, and made Spanish versions of some of her songs. Some of these include ‘Only Love’ which Millie translated to ‘Solo Tu’ and ‘Where Did the Feeling Go?’ which was translated to ‘Donde te has ido amor’.
By 1997, 2 years after the release of her first album, Millie Corretjer released yet another album titled ‘Emociones (Emotions)’. By 1999, her third album was also ready and out for listening pleasures. The title of that album was ‘Amar es un Juego’. This album went gold and further propelled her into the limelight.
One song from the album was so good that it spent almost 2 months on the number 1 spot on the Billboard charts.
Soon, she was known not just in Puerto Rico but in surrounding countries too.
To date, even at the age of 50, she still showcases her musical prowess. In 2020 she made a video recording of a new song titled ‘Si yo Fuera Tu’ (If I Were You) using her iPhone.
As of July 2023, she released a new song with an Argentine singer and has been promoting the song.
Millie and Oscar de la Hoya Met in the Year 2000
Many will remember Oscar de la Hoya from his boxing days given that he is a legendary boxer. However, by the 2000s, he decided to dabble in music and was under the production of Rudy Perez. It was during this period that Oscar was introduced to Millie.
According to a report on Millie’s Wikipedia page, Oscar found it difficult to sing with passion and so in order to help inspire him, Rudy played one of Milagros’ music videos and de la Hoya became interested in her.
The former boxer made inquiries about the singer and insisted that she be part of his music video. She also returned the favor sometime later but that’s a story for another time.
Moving on, at the time, Oscar was in a relationship with former Miss USA, Shanna Moakler, and they were even engaged. By September 2000, he called off his engagement with the model.
Oscar and Millie reportedly started dating after attending an EMI convention that was held in Texas. By October 5, 2001, a year after he ended the relationship with Shanna, the former boxer got married to Millie in San Juan.
Their wedding was somewhat top secret and was only attended by close friends and family. The couple, in a bid to keep the ceremony as private as can be, even covered themselves with sheets, to ward off paparazzi.
They remained married for 15 years until a split happened on December 4, 2016.
Through her Years of Marriage to the Boxer, she Welcomed 3 Children
Millie Corretjer bore 3 kids with Oscar during their 15 years of marriage. Her first child named Oscar de la Hoya Jr. was born on December 29, 2005. Following him is Lauren ‘Nina’ Ninette who was born on the same day with her older brother but just 2 years later. Nina who has an interest in fashion was born on December 29, 2007.
The third child Millie and Oscar de la Hoya welcomed together is a girl named Victoria Lauren Rose. She was born on January 14, 2014, and her birth was kept secret like her parent’s wedding.
She was only announced to the world at almost the age of 1.
According to Millie Corretjer’s ex-husband, Victoria’s birth was special and there is a story behind her name. According to the boxer cum singer, Victoria was born at a time when he was down and knew he was going to get up in victory.
Unfortunately, when the victory bringer was 2 years old, her parents split.
Safe for some cameos and features on their parent’s social media platforms, Millie and Oscar’s children have been relatively away from the spotlight.

The boxer had a child with his then-girlfriend Toni Alvarado on February 18, 1988. The boy’s name is Jacob de la Hoya.

Millie Corretjer and Oscar de la Hoya Announced their Divorce After 22 Years of Marriage
7 years after splitting, Oscar de la Hoya and Millie Corretjer have decided to finalize their divorce. On January 6, 2023, Oscar filed for divorce from his wife of 15 years before their split. The reason for the divorce, apart from the fact that they had long gone separate ways, was dubbed ‘irreconcilable differences.’
While they were apart from each other all these years, Millie’s ex-husband had gone on to other things including a relationship. He dated Holly Sonders and even gifted her a red Ferrari on Valentine’s Day in 2022.
De la Hoya had previously gone Instagram official with the sportscaster in November of 2021 but the relationship dates back to June 2021.
He even revealed that Holly makes him feel fulfilled and like King Kong, during an interview where he announced his final retirement from boxing.
