Namiko Love Browner was born in Los Angeles on November 19, 2008 to R&B singers Jhené Aiko Efuru Chilombo and O’Ryan Omri Browner. Considering her looks, many have always wondered about her ancestry. It turns out that she is of mixed heritage from both sides of her mother’s family.
Her maternal grandfather, karamo Chilombo who was born Gregory Wycliff Barnes is of Native American, African American, and German-Jewish descent. On the other hand, her maternal grandmother, Christina Yamamoto is of Spanish, Dominican, and Japanese descent. Looking at all the places that form part of her heritage, Namiko’s ancestry leads her to more than three continents of the world.
2. Browner was Born During her Mother’s Three-year Relationship with O’Ryan Omri Browner
Namiko’s parents, Jhene and O’Ryan dated for three years between 2005 and 2008 before they parted ways. Prior to Namiko’s birth, her parents met in the course of their careers. In fact, Jhené contributed to O’Ryan’s debut video, Take It Slow in 2004.
When she conceived Namiko, Jhené had taken a step from her career to complete her studies. Moreso, she was taking voice lessons at West Los Angeles College. In 2013 when Namiko was just 5 years old, she was involved in a ghastly motor accident in Los Angeles. Notably, her mother was in the backseat with Namiko. Aside from her, other people in the car were her father and Miyoko, her mother’s older sister.
While she and the other passenger were lucky to escape without any injuries, her mother was not as lucky as she had some injuries including a broken wrist and chipped teeth that had to be fixed with some stitches on her chin. Namiko made her first cameo appearance in her mother’s 2014 video for The Pressure. After this, she appeared in another music video for a song in her mother’s Eternal Sunshine album in 2015.
Though it is unclear whether she will also take a career path after her parents, one thing is certain about her love for music. Her mother revealed that Namiko loves being on the mic. So far, the celebrity daughter has collaborated with her mother on Sing to Me, a ballad from Jhene’s album Trip.
