Schavaria Reeves was a producer who lost his battle with cancer on September 24, 2022. Prior to his death, he was recognized for works like Quantico (2018), Little America (2020), and Inventing Anna (2022).
Reeves passed while working as a sound mixer on the TV series New Amsterdam, an American medical drama television series, based on the book Twelve Patients: Life and Death at Bellevue Hospital by Eric Manheimer.
Schavaria Reeves Died of Prostate Cancer
After about 8 years of battling prostate cancer, Schavaria passed away on September 24, 2022, in Clifton, New Jersey, USA. His funeral service was held on October 1 at Vander May Wayne Colonial Funeral Home in New Jersey. Several individuals and organizations including CAS (Cinema Audio Society) sent their condolences to his family.
Reeves is survived by his loving spouse Martha Melendez, their two children Sky and Kayloni Burton, and his brother Ernest Reeves.
Meanwhile, Schavaria’s mother, Ollie Reeves also passed away in 2021.
He was Honored in Season 5 Episode 4 of New Amsterdam
Throughout season 4, Schavaria Reeves worked as a sound mixer on New Amsterdam. Twenty episodes, from More Joy (the first) to I’ll Be Your Shelter (the last), had his name listed in the credits.
As the touching episode of the show concludes, the show took the chance to pay tribute to a much-loved crewmember who recently passed away. Just before the credits rolled, a title card with the words “In Memory of Schavaria Reeves 1965-2022” flashed on the screen.

Schavaria Reeves Has a Commendable Career Record
Over the course of his nearly 30-year career in film and television, Schavaria Reeves contributed his skills as a sound mixer and boom operator to more than 60 movies in addition to his work on New Amsterdam.
His most notable tasks include the Netflix original series Inventing Anna (2022), Power Book II: Ghost (2021-2022), Little America (2020), Shades of Blue (2017-2018), Quantico (2018), several Law & Order spinoffs, and the second and third installments of the John Wick franchise, among others.
