The Death of Marat is a famous painting by Jacques-Louis David, completed in 1793. It depicts the assassination of Jean-Paul Marat, a radical journalist and politician during the French Revolution. Marat was stabbed to death in his bathtub by Charlotte Corday, a young woman who sympathized with the Girondins, a rival political faction.
