Several decades ago, Heini Wathén hit the spotlight as the second wife of the Egyptian-born business mogul, Mohamed Al-Fayed. Prior, she earned a living in the entertainment industry as an actress and model. However, she has long retired and is settled as a philanthropist and socialite.

As hinted, Heini Wathén use to be active in the fashion industry as a model. She was inspired by her older sister to start modeling after her high school days and went on to sign a modeling contract with an agency at the age of 17. She was involved in a number of beauty pageants and even competed in the 1977 Miss Finland contest but only made it to the semi-finals.
She later landed a job at the French luxury fashion house, Pierre Balmain. She worked there for several years before getting married. However, she decided to quit her career and focus on building a family.
At the moment, she is occupied chiefly with charitable works across several platforms. We most recently garnered that she is also concerned with safeguarding the environment. In 2022, she sued Horizon Cremation Ltd while building a crematorium that was half a mile from their 4. 6 million luxury mansion in Oxted, Surrey. She noted that she was keeping the local environment from development and preserving the peaceful 12-acre site.
Heini Wathén Has Been Married to Mohammed Al-Fayed For Over 3 Decades
As you would easily find, Heini Wathén has been married to Mohammed Al-Fayed since 1985. The pair were first introduced by Dodi Al-sometimes in the late 70s when she started working as one of their models. The two soon became friends and it wasn’t long before they started dating. Though one would have thought that the 26 years between the two would have been a problem, it’s evident that it was just another number to the pair.
The two dated for about 5 years before getting married and they have counted 38 years as a couple. These years have seen the two grow so much in love and also explore a number of things together.
Prior to their marriage, Heini Wathén’s husband was first married to the late Saudi Arabian author, Samira Khashoggi, the daughter of Adnan Khashoggi whom Al-Fayed worked for in his 20s. As such, it can be said that the two met while he was working for her father. After dating for a while, they got married in 1954 but separated in 1956. Their marriage saw the birth of their son Dodi Al-Fayed who, unfortunately, died in a car accident alongside Princess Diana.

Jasmine Al-Fayed
The couple’s first child Jasmine Al-Fayed was born sometime in 1980, it is reported in many quarters that she was birthed while the couple was still dating. This was five years before they became a couple.
Jasmine is established as a fashion designer. She ventured into fashion design graduating from the Central Saint Martins and later, the London College of Fashion.
Karim Al-Fayed
In 1983, two years before Heini and Al-Fayed got married, they welcomed their second child Karim Al-Fayed who is 40 years old at the moment.
Like his mother, he also pursues a career in the entertainment industry. He mostly works backstage as a producer.
Camilla Al-Fayed
The third child of the couple, Camilla Al-Fayed, was born in 1985, the same year they got married. She was raised between home in Surrey and another in France. The 38-year-old is also in the business line like her father. She commends her grounded upbringing for giving her the right footing in the business.
Camilla juggled several industries in the past including fashion. However, she is now focused on running a food business and owns the Farmacy restuarant in Notting Hill. The mother of two has been married to her husband Mohamed Esreb since 2012.
Omar Al-Fayed
Omar Al-Fayed is the youngest child of the couple and their second son. He was born in 1987, two years after the pair exchanged vows. Omar is forging a career as a tech and space entrepreneur.
