Joan Collins’ First Husband is an Irish Actor named Maxwell Reed
Joan Collins first tied the knot on May 24, 1952, at the age of 19 to Northern Irish actor, Maxwell Reed. She was married to the actor for a total of 4 years as she divorced him in 1956, aged 23.
The American actress later revealed in one of her books that while married to Reed, he drugged and assaulted her.
Maxwell Reed died in 1974 and didn’t have any record of remarrying before his death.
In between her first marriage and the second, Collins was engaged but the relationship didn’t get past that.
She was engaged to Warren Beatty, an actor too. Joan and Warren got into a relationship in 1959 and by 1960 they were already planning marriage. Beatty was unfaithful and so they split and went their separate ways.
In a 1978 autobiography by Joan, she made a revelation about her pregnancy for Warren. She got an abortion because she wanted to avoid any scandal that could have cost her and the actor their careers.

In 1963, the English author and columnist got married for the second time. She married singer and songwriter, Anthony Newley and even had 2 children with him.
The names of her children with Newley are Tara and Alexander. Tara followed in Joan’s footsteps and is a writer, broadcaster, and producer.
Alexander is also Art inclined as he is a writer, teacher, portraitist, and artist.
Joan however believes that the children inherited their father’s talent.

According to Collins, Anthony was neither a good husband nor a good father. She also insinuated that he had a huge fascination with women.
Newley was married before meeting and marrying Joan. His first wife was Ann Lynn and they were married from 1956 to 1963. His third wife after Joan was Dareth Rich whom he was married to from 1971 to 1989. He has another partner named Gina Fratini.
Newley died sometime in 1999 and his death was a hard pill for Joan to swallow as they remained good friends after their divorce.

A year after Joan’s marriage ended, she found love again in businessman, Ron Kass. He was also a record executive, film producer, and manager of the band group, The Beatles.
They got married in 1972 and were together for about 11 years. Ron had also been married to a woman named Anita with whom he had 3 children.
With Ron Kass, Joan had her third child, a daughter named Katyana Kass. When Katyana was 8 years old, she was involved in an almost fatal accident.
The young girl was knocked down by a car and had serious brain injuries from the impact. Katyana was in a coma for a very long time and doctors even suspected that she was going to die. However, she pulled through but the entire situation strained her marriage with Kass.
While many believe that the 3rd time is usually the charm, it wasn’t so with this marriage. The marriage between the Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire and her businessman husband ended in 1983. At the time of the divorce, Ron was dealing with drug addiction, Collins later revealed.
Ron and Collins remained friends despite their divorce. She took care of his medical bills when he was battling terminal cancer. Joan also paid for Kass’ other sons to visit him while he was ill.
Collins’ third husband died at the age of 51 from cancer, in Los Angeles. Joan was by his side when he died.

On November 3, 1985, 3 years after Joan Collins’ third marriage ended, she got married again. The ceremony was in Las Vegas but it didn’t last for long.
