Merve Dibo is a Syrian woman who was not known until 2013 when she got married to the World’s tallest man alive, Sultan Kösen. The latter is from Turkey and he was named the tallest man alive by the Guinness World Record.
Dibo’s husband spent most of his time farming while growing up as he could not complete his education due to his physical and medical problems.

Merve Dibbo was born in Hasaki, in Syria in the 1990s. She was raised in Syria, unlike her husband who was born and raised in the city of southeastern Turkey. He is of Kurdish descent. Sultan Kösen was born on 10 December 1982 to his parents Abdulkadir and Camile Kösen.

1. Merve Dibo met her husband through a mutual friend
Dibo and her husband met through a mutual friend that introduced them. She had to travel from her country, Syria to meet him in Turkey. The couple started dating almost immediately.
Kösen never knew he would find love because many women were scared of him and his height as well.
After a while, they tied the knot on 28 October 2013 in the presence of over 1500 guests. After the wedding party, the newly wedded couple went to their specially made home in Dede Koy. The couple has not revealed if they have kids or not.
2. She is about two and a half feet shorter than her husband
Merve Dibo stands 5 feet 9 inches tall. Her height is way below her husband’s. He has a towering height of 8 feet 3 ¼ inches. Dibo is said to be two and a half feet shorter than her husband.
Sultan Kösen is not just taller than his wife, but also the tallest woman in the world, Rumeysa Gelgi. At the age of 24, Gelgi is already the tallest woman alive with a height of 7 feet 0.7 inches which is less than Kösen’s.
3. Merve Dibo’s height was due to a condition
Sultan Kösen’s height is not natural. He was born with a condition called Gigantism and Acromegaly that is caused by a tumor that affects his pituitary glands. This caused his unusual rapid growth and poor posture that makes him walk with the support of crutches.
4. Her husband’s growth was halted in 2012
In 2012, Sultan Kösen’s growth was halted by doctors. Normal growth ideally stops when one reaches 18-20 years but that of Kösen did not stop even at the age of 30.
He had to undergo surgery in 2010 at the University of Virginia Medical School. He received Gamma Knife treatment and also other medications to help control the growth of his body.
5. Sultan Kösen also has the record for the largest hands and feet
Merve Dibo’s husband is not in the Guinness Books of Record for being the tallest man only, his hands and feet are also in the records for the largest hands and feet. His hand is almost 9 inches while his feet is 14 inches long.
6. There is a decade gap between Merve Dibo and her husband
Sultan Kösen is currently 41 years old. Since he is older than his wife by 10 years, it means Merve Dibo is currently 32 years old.
7. She was advised not to marry Sultan Kösen
Merve Dibo revealed she was warned and advised not to marry the world’s tallest man because of his height and medical condition. She did not listen to the warnings because she was attracted to his kind heart. She said they both fell in love immediately after they met so nothing else mattered.
8. Her husband could not fit into a car or classroom
While growing up, Kösen’s height did not allow him to fit into cars or classrooms. However, it had its advantage as he spends most of his time helping his parents around the house fixing stuff, changing light bulbs, hanging curtains, and other things he could reach.

9. Communication was a big problem in her marriage at first
After Dibo married Kösen, they had one big challenge. The tallest man revealed his wife speaks only Arabian while he on the other hand speaks Turkish. The couple might have been able to work out an effective way of communicating since they have been married for 10 years now.

In 2014, Sultan Kösen joined a circus called Magic Circus of Samoa were took part in several shows traveling all around the world.
