Penny Bae Bridges is a 34 year-old American actress and artist from Pittsfield, Massachusetts. She made her acting debut at a very tender age in the 1996 live-action/animated sports comedy film Space Jam, where she was featured as Jasmine Jordan. Since then, she has appeared in a couple of movies including Nothing To Lose (1997), True Crime (1999), and Baadassss (2003).
In addition to acting, she is a designer, painter, and co-owner of “The Berkshire Pine.” She is a wife and a mother.
Background And Career Of Penny Bae Bridges
It was on the 29th of July 19990 that Penny Bae Bridges was born to Jimmy Bridges and Barbara Bridges. She is the first of her parents’ three daughters. Her two younger sisters are Brooke Marie Bridges and Rachel Bridges.
Interestingly, the 34 year old grew up in a family of actors, from her grandmother, Betty Bridges to her parents, Jimmy and Barbara Bridges, her uncle Todd Bridges, and her sisters, Brooke and Rachel. This could explain why she became interested in acting and even landed a role from a young age, although she later relinquished it as it was interfering with her academics.
Besides acting, she is a designer and painter, and co-owner of the decor home “The Berkshire Pine.” The decor home has been in existence for more than a year now and engages in the designing of beautiful artworks, cutting boards for veggies, and paintings.
She attended the Art Institute of California, Hollywood from 2012 to 2015. Two years later, she enrolled in Los Angeles Mission College, where she graduated in 2018 with an Associate of Arts in animation, interaction technology, video graphics, and special effects.
Her parents got married on 16th August 1989 and divorced in August 2009. However, the reason behind the divorce is still under wraps.
Bridges Landed Her First Movie Role At 6
Turning 6 in 1996, Bridges got her first movie role in the live-action/animated sports comedy film Space Jam (1996) in which she played the role of Jasmine Jordan. Consequently, more movie roles came her way which saw her appearing in major and minor projects over the cause of time.
A year after Space Jam, she appeared in Nothing To Lose (1997) as Tonya David, and in 1999, she landed another role in East Clintwood’s drama as Gail Beechum, the daughter of Frank Louis (Isaiah Washington), a convicted murderer facing execution.
The years that followed brought more for the actress and artist including roles on TV. She appeared in Director Mario Van Peebles’ 2003 film as Megan. The movie follows the story of Mario’s father (Melvin Van) 1971 classic Sweet Sweetback’s Baadasssss Song. She starred in the movie alongside Mario Van Peebles, Melvin Van, Ossie Davis, Joy Bryant, and Thomas Khloe among others.

She Had Her TV Debut At 12
At 12, she had her first TV role in the 2002 UPN sitcom Half & Half, where she played the character of Young Mona. While the series was still running, she got enrolled in high school, but it became difficult for her to manage school and acting at the same time.
The pressure and tight schedules took a toll on her that she was beginning to skip classes as well as sports, which she was passionate about. But all she wanted was to be a normal kid, so volleyball gave her that feeling. Hence, she stopped acting so her life could return to normal again.
It seems she lost touch with anything that has to do with acting at the time. She even kicked against going back to it after she graduated from high school.
The True Crime Actress Became A Mother At 19
Bridges became a mother before the age of 20. She gave birth to her son, Elijah Johnson on 21st February 2009. He is currently 15 years old. According to her, she had him when she was 19 and she had no regret in bringing such a handsome kid into the world.
For all the years she has been a mother, she said the feeling is incredible and she can’t wait to see what her son would become in the future. Besides, she is proud of raising him as her son.
She Is A Sexual Abuse Survivor
The Space Jam (1996) actress is a victim of sexual abuse. She experienced it as a child and decided to share the experience in 2018. She said she is sharing it because she just came to the realization that what happened to her as a child has changed the way and manner she deals with and perceives people. Violated sexually before one knows what sexuality is all about, makes the person to distrust people and even question his/her own perception of reality.
She rose above the hurt the experience brought her and learned to love herself and the things she is passionate about- acting and art.
Penny Bae Bridges Is Married To A Man Named Lee
The mother of one is married to a man named Lee. Nothing is indicating when exactly they tied the knots, but we gathered the pair were engaged in 2020.
She shared the news of the engagement in November 2020 saying they only went on a vacation, but she had no idea her man had other surprises waiting for her. She said they have been working hard to make their lives better and this was a step in getting the next chapter of their lives.
