She is the Girl from Jackass who Hurt her Back
A lot of people have been interested in knowing what happened to 45–year-old Stephanie Hodge. She was a very close pal of the Jackass crew as she loved to hang out with them and watch the filming.
For those not conversant with the MTV show, Jackass is a reality TV show series that featured a group of men who would prank each other or the public and carry out stunts. It starred the likes of Johnny Knoxville, Bam Margera, and 7 other men.
Hodge who at the time was an aspiring actress ended up playing as a ring girl on the show a couple of times. She featured in a few episodes involving a woman.
Stephanie’s TV debut was in one of the TV show’s earliest episodes; ‘A Cool Hand Luke’. This episode was about a hard-boiled egg-eating contest that she was part of. Hodge then went on to feature in a couple more stunts for the show until the one that almost cost her life.
In 2001, she got involved in one of the show’s stunts that seemed perfect to be played by a female. The stunt involved sliding down a hill on a mattress. Easy peasy it may have sounded but in reality, it was a disaster.
While doing the stunt, Hodge flew off the mattress after it hit snow back. She was plunged high up into the air and fell down hard on her back snapping her back and pelvis. After this injury, Hodge spent 3 months bedridden in her parent’s house and being catered to. She also spent another 3 months doing physical therapy which prevented her from having surgery done.
The aftermath of Her Accident
Stephanie spent almost a year away from acting and modeling as she was in recovery. However, she was still close to the crew of the show and kept in close touch. Luckily for her, she recovered fully from the accident without needing surgery.
Also, the accident would have been very bad as she would have been paralyzed for life. Thankful to the MTV medic team, this situation was controlled on time.
As a result of the accident, the Jackass team banned females from performing stunts on the show. They still had female team members but they couldn’t bear seeing another female getting hurt on the show and so they scraped out female stunts.
Upon Stephanie’s recovery, she went back to the set of Jackass. She still played the role of a ring card girl during some parts of the filming of the first and second Jackass films.
