Is Beaumont’s Husband Also an Actor?
As previously said, not much is currently known about Allan Levine. He appears to be a celebrity spouse who loves to stay away from the spotlight. However, this cannot be said of his wife who according to sources, was discovered professionally at the age of 5. Also, she made her feature film debut in It Happened One Sunday (1944) and this immediately drew the interest of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, who offered her a contract. She later clinched minor roles in On an Island with You (1948), where she did a Jimmy Durante impression in front of Durante’s character, The Secret Garden (1949), and Challenge to Lassie (1949).
After Beaumont had relocated to Los Angeles in 1949, Walt Disney began working on the animated classic, Alice in Wonderland. He sought the perfect voice that would be English enough to satisfy British audiences, at the same time, not so English that it would put off American audiences. After hearing Kathryn’s audition, Walt chose her for the voice of Alice and later, Wendy Darling in Peter Pan. After Beaumont clinched the role, she started working under voice director Winston Hibler.
Meanwhile, in 2005, Beaumont retired from acting and the roles of Alice and Wendy were taken over by Hynden Walch. She later made a brief return to voice acting in 2010 when she voiced Kairi’s grandmother in Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep.
