Massai Zhivago Dorsey II is the oldest son of American actress Nia Long and her ex-boyfriend, Massai Z. Dorsey. He is a baseball player having played for his high school team and currently playing at the college level following his graduation.
His mother is an award-winning actress who gained widespread recognition for her roles in films such as Boyz n The Hood (1991), Love Jones (1997), Big Momma’s House (2000), and Best Man Holiday (2013). Even though his father is also an actor, he is not as popular as Long.
Massai’s parents could have gotten married in 2001 after their engagement but parted ways instead.

It was on the 26th day of November 2000 that Nia Long gave birth to him in Los, Angeles, California. That same he was born, his mother appeared in a couple of movies and TV series and won a number of awards as well.
They include Boiler Room (Abbie Halpert), Big Momma’s House (Sherry Pierce), and The Broken Hearts Club: A Romantic Comedy (Leslie). She won the Star of the Year at the American Black Film Festival, Black Reel Awards, and Blockbuster Entertainment Awards for Outstanding Actress for her role in The Best Man (1999).
The 22 year-old had his high school education at Birmingham Community High School where he played baseball for the school’s team. After graduation, he gained admission into the Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond in 2019, where he now plays collegiately.
He signed out of high school in grand style after being part of the Birmingham baseball team that beat Palisades 9-6 to win the City Section Open Division championship at the Dodger Stadium on 25th May 2019.
His Parents Were Supposed To Get Married In June 2001
Massai’s parents Nia Long and Massai Z. Dorsey were said to have met sometime between late 1999 and early 2000, and began a relationship. After dating for a couple of months, the pair got engaged in May 2001 and had planned to exchange marital vows in June 2001. However, it never came to be as things went south, leading to a breakup.
He was already born and barely a year old before his parents went their separate ways. Despite not being together, they still raised their son well.

Massai Has A Younger Brother
The California native is not the only son of his mother. He has a younger brother, Kez Sunday Udoka whom his mother had with her current partner, Ime Udoka, the present head coach for the Boston Celtics of the NBA. Kez was born in November 2011. He is currently 11 years old.
Despite having different fathers, Massai and his younger brother have a good relationship. This is seen in the way the pair look happy and comfortable with each other.
His Mother Have Been Engaged To Ime Udoka Since 2015
Massai’s mother and her partner, Ime Udoka have been dating since 2010. They got engaged five years later, but currently, there is nothing to suggest that wedding plans are underway. It seems marriage doesn’t hold much water for his mother, she believes it is not enough to prove that she loves someone.
She revealed in a 2020 interview that she doesn’t understand what marriage means, even though she comprehends its religious aspect. On the other hand, she said it is beautiful, fantastic and the dream of every girl to savor the sweetness of the moment, but she doesn’t need that to feel like she is in a partnership that is working.
But what could have been responsible for what she feels about marriage? Well, it couldn’t be unconnected to what happened between her father and mother.
She was just 2 when Massai’s grandparents divorced. Having experienced it with her parents scares her.
This could have been the reason she and her older son’s father didn’t get married in 2001. She said her relationship with Massai’s father was challenging and she wasn’t sure they wouldn’t actually end like her parents.
While marriage is not her thing, she has embraced motherhood with all joy. In May 2021, Massai’s mother wrote a post on Instagram on Mother’s Day about the birth of her first child, saying it was easy and quick. She said his coming changed her life, and thanked God and her ancestors for blessing her with motherhood.
