Carlos Villagran was born on January 12 1944 in Santiago de Queretaro into a family of struggling parents. His father, Carlos Villagran Chavez was a photographer while his mother was Eva Adela Eslava Rivera. Carlos’ parents raised him alongside his four brothers.
The young Carlos did not complete his education because he started working at a young age. Yet, it did not deter him from following his dreams to become a successful comedian and actor.
The 80 years old Carlos Villagran once worked as a photographer before he found success as a comedian. He put the experience of learning work under his father to good use.

2. Carlos Villagran won his Popular Role Following a Legal Battle
He became acquainted with Ruben Aguirre in the years he worked as a reporter for the newspaper Mexico City. It was Aguirre that recommended him to Chespiritto after he impressed him with his facial expression.
Chespirito initially hired Carlos to play the role of Professor Jirafales but he was later given the lead character of Quico for the El Chavo del Ocho show.
However, they had issues in the late 80s leading to the departure of Carlos from the show in 1978. Their problems started over the legal ownership of the successful Quico character.
He toured other countries with a slight moderation to the Quicko name, he became Kiko. Carlos toured other countries with his circus team known as E! cico de Kiko.
3. Carlos Announced his Retirement in 2013
After having a successful career that spanned decades, he announced his retirement in 2013. The plan was for him to start his farewell tour as Kiko. While he was able to fulfill the touring part by visiting countries like Brazil, Chile, Peru, and Mexico, his retirement did not materialize.
