What could be more satisfying than a parent letting his child choose what he/she wants and the child choosing to follow in his/her parents’ footsteps? That is the story of Charlie Axel Woods, the youngest child of Tiger Woods, the 15-time Masters champion. When he first began walking on all fours, he expressed an interest in a variety of sports, including soccer, and as he grew older, his focus shifted to golf, and his father is there to offer guidance.
Charlie and his father competed in the 2020 PNC Championship, which was followed by two more in 2021 and 2022.
After His Birth, Charlie Axel Wood Was Named Charlie Sifford
Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren gave birth to Charlie Axel Woods on February 8, 2009, making him 14 years old at the time. He has a sister, Sam Alexis Woods, who is 2 years his senior.
Like his elder sister, the name given to him by his parents after his birth honors both sides of their families. His first name, Charlie, was inspired by the first African-American to compete on the PGA Tour, Charlie Sifford, and his second name, Axel, was influenced by his mother, whose father’s middle name is Axel.
Aside from that, Charlie comes from a broad ethnic background. His Swedish ancestry comes from his mother, who is Swedish, and he has Caucasian, black, Indian, and Asian origins through his father.
His Parents Divorced Was Finalized When He Was 1
When his parents’ marriage ended, Charlie Axel Woods was still crawling on all fours. According to reports, his parents divorced on August 23, 2010, when he was 1 year and 6 months old.
We learned that his mother, Elin Nordegren, filed for divorce in Bay County, Florida, stating the marriage as “irretrievably broken” as the reason. The divorce happened 9 months after the National Enquirer reported in 2009 that his father was having an affair with a New York nightclub hostess.
Despite the hostess’ denial, several women claimed to have had relationships with his father. Furthermore, his father admitted to having cheated on his mother with other women throughout their marriage.
According to court filings, Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren agreed to co-parent Charlie and his older sister Sam.

Charlie Started With Soccer Before Switching To Golf
Charlie was destined to be a sportsperson even as a toddler. His father stated that when Charlie was two years old, all he wanted to do was play sports. Furthermore, he was interested in a variety of sports, mainly soccer, but as he grew older, it became obvious that he was drawn to golf.
Since he has shown more interest in golf, he started playing and practicing with his father, besides watching from the sidelines. His father said he would never force his son to play, despite the fact that the boy is a natural talent. Pushing him to play the game may cause him to dislike it.
By the age of 11, Charlie had begun competing against other young players on the golf course, and his father occasionally functioned as his caddy during some of his competitions.
