Rudy Farias‘ parents were an American former couple named Janie Santana (mother) and a former police officer father, Rudolph Farias III. While the boy’s father made the headline for being a 21-year veteran and for taking his life in 2014 at a parking lot of the Houston police station, his mother’s case is filled with controversies.
Janie, a Houston native became known as a woman who hid her son from the world and lied that he disappeared in 2015. She kept him away for 8 years and used him for sex, drugged him many times, and made him believe some stories she made up. Here is the complete truth about Rudy’s parents.
Everything About Farias’ Father
Rudy’s Father Was Probably Never Married to the Boy’s Mother
Rudolph Farias III was born in 1963 and had Rudolph “Rudy” Farias IV on October 1, 1997. At the time of his death in 2014, he was married for 17 years to Romi Marie Farias. This means that Rudy IV was barely a year old when Farias III married Romi.
With this revelation, it is either the older Rudolph only had a relationship with Rudy’s mother Janie, or were married for a very short period. It is also possible that they were never even married.
Rudy’s father had other children (Rudy’s half-siblings). They include 2 boys named Luke Alexander Farias and Jackson David Farias. His daughters are Bonnie J. Farias and Rachel M. Ball. Also, the former police officer had a grandson, Vincent Ball at the time of his demise.
Get to Know More Details About Rudy’s Father and How He Committed Suicide
Rudy’s father was Rudolph Farias III, a police sergeant in Houston, Texas. He was described as a good human and was a 21-year veteran.
He joined the Houston Police Department in 1993 and also worked in the traffic enforcement division but landed in trouble over some financial issues. He, alongside three others, was relieved of duty pending the outcome of internal affairs investigations over criminal conduct.
The same month that he was relieved, August, Rudy’sfather killed himself on August 19, 2014. He was found in a police patrol car inside a parking garage behind the HPD jail. He died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
While authorities did not give details of what led to Rudy taking his own life, as mentioned earlier, it may be related to the fact that there was an investigation against him going on.
Studies show that the major cause of suicide is the feeling that you can’t cope with some things you face and they become overwhelming. Again, there are genetic links. As such, this may have resulted in the older Farias taking his own life.

Rudy’s Mother Allegedly Created the Story that Her Son was Missing and She Manipulated and Sexually Assaulted Him
In 2015, Janie Santan reported to the police that her then-17-year-old son, Rudy Frias was missing. 8 years later on June 29, 2023, Rudy was found wounded in front of a church.
Janie had shown her gratitude that her son was finally found. In fact, she went ahead to share her thoughts that he was beaten and perhaps was also s*xually assaulted.
In the heat of it, a new revelation that would implicate Janie hit the media.
It was revealed by some neighbors that Rudy was not missing the whole time. The story continued with the revelation that he was at a time sighted behind his home and 911 received a call about it. Unfortunately, before authorities arrived, he vanished. Janie allegedly also took him to work at a point.
So, the questions of where he was alone started to be asked repeatedly.
An interesting revelation was made that Janie, Rudy’s mother had deceived him that he was going to be arrested and thrown in jail for actually going missing in 2015 (for 2 days). She also told him that different organizations were interested in sending him to jail.
As such, he needed to stay away. This is not all. It has been revealed that all the while, Rudy’s mother had kept him and was s*xually assaulting and drugging him. While an investigation is ongoing, she asked that the family needed privacy and Rudy was nonverbal.
She also told ABC that he had experienced mental health issues and Rudy had gone through a lot, especially after he lost his brother in 2011.
How Rudy Escaped Being His Mother’s Reported S*x Slave
If you’ve been following this story, you would remember that we mentioned how Janie kept her son and was heavily drugging him, and also used him as a s** slave.
Now, you wonder how he was able to escape. Rudy told an activist Quanell X that he had enough of his mother and wanted Janie to respect her boundaries. He also wanted to have his own life.
As such, he took her credit card and left. This led to his being found at a church in Magnolia Park.
